Description: The Jackson Residence is a one-story house on Long Island, designed by the late John Hejduk and completed in 1961. To meet the owner's current needs for space, SAA designed a 1,600 square foot addition to adjoin the existing structure. Though two stories, the addition will share Hejduk's roofline by partially submerging the new volume within the sloping site. Materials and proportions respect the extant structure.
This project had personal significance for Samuel Anderson, who has deeply admired the work of John Hejduk since studying with him at The Cooper Union.
